Hi everyone!
I'm so sorry for the delay in a post. I just finished working for 8th day in a row, and still need to work 2 more days before having a 4 day weekend. Needless to say, I am exhausted, along with a lot of the other interns. Things are going well here. It's getting warmer, which is somewhat nice, but also not when you don't have AC in the room. For awhile it was raining just about everyday, and pretty chilly at night. It cools down at night still though. In addition, the interns continue to get to know each other, where we go out to eat, go to the movies, and hang out. I am really enjoying getting to know them. It's a pretty great group of people, and I still have over 7 weeks to continue connecting with them.
The projects I have been working on have been great. I have written a handful of artifact labels (including Strasburg and Halladay items...see below for images). It may seem easy to write these, but when you are working with curators who have been here for over 10 years, they have their own way of doing things. I feel I am catching on quite well, which is nice. And, this is definitely great experience for future projects/my career in general. Once the labels are up, I will post some pics.
In addition, I have sat in on some development meetings (very beneficial) for a future Records Room exhibition. I have completed countless artifact worksheets and currently researching artifacts dealing with baseball and the movies for a future article in the Hall's membership magazine. Once that is finalized more, I will post the information. I wrote up a script(and research, of course) for an artifact spotlight that I will have to give to the visitors 3 times over the course of the summer. It's based on the media and baseball, primarily the telegraph and the job of a sports writer, Tracy Ringolsby. I will be presenting Ringoslby cowboy hat, his scorecard from Ubaldo Jimenez's no-hitter, and a telegraph used during the 1933 World Series by a very famous telegrapher, Edson Brewster. When I conduct these, I will have someone take photos for you all to see me in action. As more projects begin (and end) will let you know. I definitely enjoy the staff and the work I am doing. It's not just busy work, but rather I am contributing to the museum and their displays/exhibits. This internship has already been worth it.
Over this past weekend, the interns had to help out with a Family Catch, a skills clinic held by former major league players and the Hall of Fame Classic (featuring 6 Hall of Famers). Check out the website for more information on the events (http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/), but I will post some pics later this week, I promise. I feel the ones below are enough for now. :)
I will write up another post on Thursday, my first day off. For now, it's time to relax and prepare for another day of work.
I miss you all, and thanks so much for your encouragement. As usual, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

i think it's kind of silly wearing gloves touching baseball bats, like really? grubby guys have sweat all over that thing and now you have to be dainty about it? but looks amazing!!!
